Alt.WestCountry Volume 1 REVEALED!

After months of blood, sweat and even a few tears (mostly from Lex when he didn't get his way!) the Balustrade album is finally finished! Carter took shipment of the inlay cards this week and now we can exclusively reveal to you, the loyal Balustrade fans, just what 'Alt.Westcountry Volume One' is going to look like.

To find out what it sounds like you'll just have to wait a few more days, however we can exclusively reveal to you here on the Balustrade blog, the tracklisting for this mighty opus. After many a heated word and the odd bout of fisticuffs, the final running order for Alt.Westcountry Vol.1 is as follows;

1. In The West Country
2. West Country Blues
3. Play It Again (some other day)
4. The World The Way It Shouldn't Be
5. Dream the Dream
6. Medieval Town Planners
7. Swampman
8. Foolin'
9. Summer Days
10. Harvest Song
11. Love Songs for Travellers (Part Two)
12. Zaire

Keep checking back for more Balustrade info as the boys will return to regular practice next week and attempt to pick up their guitars for the first time in 3 months - it could be interesting (but not if you're one of Carts or Lex's neighbours!!)

REVEALED: Just where Balustrade have been!

Greetings Balustrade fans. Have you been wondering where your favourite alt.country twosome have been the last 6 months? Well perhaps these pictures will reveal the truth about their whereabouts. It seems the boys haven't been off discovering themselves or working on their album. It turns out they've been presenting a poor quality television show channel 4 on friday nights.

It's no surprise really that people didn't notice, because how many people actually watch the Friday Night Project anyway!!

No, this time we really ARE back!

Like true renegade masters, Balustrade are back once again: after a summer in which Lex found himself in Goa and I found myself in the gutter, the recording, remixing, tinkering and basically arsing about sessions began again in earnest. And now it’s over. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s been three years in the making but we’re ready to unleash our freak-child of an album on the unsuspecting world.

Taking exclusively to me this evening as we sat in the Camden studios, Lex expressed his astonishment at having finally finished the album with a series of inane grunts and whistles, along with a few expletives along the lines of “I can’t F*”$^&g believe it!”

It’s taken a long time, but hopefully you guys will think it’s worth it. I can only speak for myself on this, but I was thinking that if I heard this band for the first time now – particularly a track like Foolin’ or Dream The Dream – then I’d quite like them. I can say not much more than that. Now, about that Mercury music prize nomination…

In the wider world, all in well in the world of Balustrade as we struggle to come to terms with having to pick up over guitars in anger again. New covers need to be learnt, new chords (maybe) and new instruments (ukulele a-go-go) are all in the pipeline. We’re going to perform live again at some point soon, and we’re going to sit back and wait for the confusion to hit the fan – if that’s not mixing my metaphors a bit too much.

So, I’ll keep this short as I’ve got to but the finishing touches to the album artwork before getting it to the printers, thank you, our patient and most wonderous fans. You are about to be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams. Alt.westcountry Volume One is about to hit you right between your eyes and/or in your knackers… you have been warned!
